The film includes interviews with survivors, relatives of the victims, police officers, and investigators, providing a comprehensive view of the events surrounding the disaster. It draws on newly available evidence from the Hillsborough Independent Panel's 2012 report, which revealed previously unreleased information about the disaster and its aftermath. The documentary was first aired on ESPN on 15 April 2014, coinciding with the 25th anniversary of the disaster. It could not be shown in the UK at that time due to the ongoing High Court inquest. After the inquest's verdict was announced, the BBC aired the film on 8 May 2016, including additional footage from the inquest and final verdict, further enhancing the narrative of accountability and justice for the victims.
