Faces Nord follows French mountaineer Eric Escoffier as he attempts to ascend the Eiger, Matterhorn, and Grandes Jorasses, three of the most challenging north faces in the Alps. The film documents Escoffier's 17-hour climb on the Eiger, where he chooses an improvised route with minimal gear. As night falls, concern grows in Zermatt, leading to a rescue operation for Escoffier.
In contrast to Escoffier's experience, fellow climber Christophe Profit successfully completes all three summits. The film captures the stark realities of alpine climbing, emphasizing both the risks involved and the triumphs achieved in this extreme sport.
