Eight Postcards from Utopia is a Romanian documentary film directed by Radu Jude and philosopher Christian Ferencz-Flatz. The film uses found footage from post-communist Romanian advertisements to examine the human condition within the framework of Romania's economic transition. It is structured into eight thematic segments, each addressing different aspects of life during this period, followed by an epilogue that ties the themes together.
The film's production took place in late 2023, supported by a grant from the Romanian Film Centre. It premiered out of competition at the 77th Locarno Film Festival on August 10, 2024, and was screened alongside another work by Jude, Sleep #2, under the title Paradise Dreams: 2 Found-footage Films. In July 2024, the film was acquired for international distribution by Heretic.
