Bodysong is a found footage documentary that presents the cycle of human life from birth to death. It uses stock footage and images sourced from various countries over the course of a century, including microscopic medical footage, portraits, and newsreels. The film captures significant moments such as the first cry of a newborn and the contrasting scenes of ritual celebration and war. The absence of spoken dialogue allows the visuals to be accompanied solely by a score composed by Jonny Greenwood of Radiohead.
Directed by Simon Pummell and produced by Janine Marmot, Bodysong won a BAFTA Interactive Award in 2004 and Best British Documentary at the British Independent Film Award in 2003. The film was released by Pathé in 2003 and later had a limited collector's edition DVD released by the BFI in 2010, which included original essays from notable writers.
