Bedrock is a Canadian documentary directed by Kinga Michalska, released in 2025. The film profiles communities in Poland that are located on or near Holocaust-related sites, including Oświęcim, the town near the Auschwitz concentration camp. Michalska's personal connection to the subject began with a family trip to an amusement park close to Auschwitz, which she initially opposed. This experience led her to reflect on the historical significance of various locations in Poland, including Muranów, where she attended a party. The film aims to present the contemporary lives of people in these historically charged areas. The production faced challenges, as it was originally intended to be a Canadian-Polish coproduction. However, due to the political situation in Poland, it proceeded solely as a Canadian production. Bedrock premiered at the 75th Berlin International Film Festival and later at the DOXA Documentary Film Festival in Canada. The film was also longlisted for the 2025 Jean-Marc Vallée DGC Discovery Award, indicating its recognition within the documentary film community.
