Bama Rush is a documentary directed by Rachel Fleit that follows four University of Alabama students as they prepare for sorority bid day in the summer of 2022. The film captures the intense and competitive atmosphere surrounding the sorority recruitment process, particularly as it gained attention on TikTok under the hashtag #rushtok, which accumulated billions of views. Fleit began this project after observing the rush process's popularity on social media and aimed to provide an intimate look at the experiences of young women navigating this tradition. The documentary does not include footage from inside sorority houses, as the sorority system at the University of Alabama did not participate. Instead, it focuses on the personal stories of the subjects, including their efforts to enhance their chances of acceptance, such as creating planning binders and hiring consultants. The film also touches on the secrecy and social dynamics of the sorority system, including the influence of a secret society known as 'The Machine.'
