Aimless Wanderer follows two women filmmakers as they uncover twenty forgotten rolls of Super8 film that document a trip taken by two Galicians to Japan in 1973. The film intertwines the reflections of the travelers' son, who views the footage for the first time, with the emotional responses of his Japanese wife, who never met her father-in-law. This personal narrative is set against the backdrop of Japan and Galicia, creating a dialogue between the two cultures.
In addition to the archival footage, the filmmakers incorporate readings from Matsuo Basho's haikus, specifically from his travelogue 'Oku no Oshomichi,' which describes the beauty of the locations visited by the Galician couple.
